| Silver Falls State
Park
15 miles south of Silverton lies
Oregon's premium state park. Boasting ten waterfalls
and an array of sights as varied as the seasons, Silver
Falls State Park was constructed in the 1930s by the
Civilian Conservation Corps as a "recreation demonstration
site." Today, over seven miles of canyon trail
wind past ten (or more, in season) spectacular waterfalls;
multiple loops and access points allow hikers to decide
on short or longer hikes of varying challenge. An additional
25 miles of multi-use trails allow hikers, cyclists,
and equestrians to explore the rest of the park's extensive
wilderness.
Park day-use
fee is $3 per vehicle, or $25 for a year-long pass to
all Oregon state parks. 54 electrical sites ($15 Oct-April
and $20 May-Sept) and 51 tent sites ($13 October, $16
May-Sept, closed Nov-April 15) are available for camping.
